What is the Dashboard?¶
The dashboard is where Ops Insights users can gain a comprehensive overview of their company’s key performance indicators (KPIs). Depending on your Level of Access, you will see high-level sales, operational, and compliance metrics that will empower you to take action to ensure key goals and benchmarks are being met and/or issues are being identified and addressed as early as possible.
The links listed in the Dashboard Links section below will direct you to key topics that are important to understand when using your Ops Insights dashboard to ensure that you are maximizing the full value of Ops Insights.
Navigating Your Dashboard¶
This section will walk you through all the key features that are available when using your Ops Insights Dashboard. The links listed in the Dashboard Navigation Links section below will direct you to each feature that’s currently available in the Ops Insights Dashboard.
Dashboard Layout¶
Each Ops Insights Dashboard will display any Count Widgets that are assigned to the user’s Access Role(s) at the top of the dashboard and any Charts and Graphs that are assigned to the user’s Access Role(s) will appear under the assigned Count Widgets. If Count Widgets are NOT assigned to the user’s Access Role(s), the Charts and Graphs that are assigned to the user’s Access Role(s) will appear at the top of the dashboard.
The How are Visualizations Assigned to My Dashboard? section listed below will give you a better understanding of how visualizations are assigned to your dashboard and will also outline steps to follow if your Dashboard is Empty or if you feel a visualization is Missing From Your Dashboard.
The Count Widgets and Charts and Graphs sections listed below will further describe the differences between the two, how they work, and what they will look like when they are assigned to your Ops Insights Dashboard.
Count Widgets¶
Count Widgets are the most simplistic of the visualizations that will appear on your Ops Insights Dashboard. They will display total counts, sums, averages, or percentages and will allow you to quickly and easily assess overall totals for your entire company, business unit, client, vendor, etc. depending on the Criteria Tha’s Applied to the Count Widget. The Count Widget Example image below will show you what a typical Count Widget will look like on your Ops Insights Dashboard.

Charts and Graphs¶
Charts and Graphs are intended to display counts, sums, averages, or percentages for a specific metric that’s tracked in the report. For example, a Chart or Graph could display the total number of orders that have been received for each product or service that your company offers. The Chart and Graph Example image below will show you what a typical Chart or Graph will look like on your Ops Insights Dashboard.

Visualization Name¶
The Name of the visualization will be clearly displayed on every Count Widget and Chart or Graph and will inform you of what information the report is designed to display in just a few words. The entire purpose and design of a report can be found by Maximizing/Expanding a visualization and reviewing the Report Description Tab.
The Count Widgets Name and Charts and Graphs Name sections listed below will show you where the Name can be found on a Count Widget and a Chart or Graph.

The Name will be displayed in the top left portion of the Chart or Graph. The Chart and Graph Name Location image below will show you where the Name will be displayed on a Chart or Graph.

Updating Visualization Display Order¶
You will have the ability to change the display order of any Count Widget or Chart and Graph when viewing your Ops Insights Dashboard. This will allow you to move key visualizations to a location on your dashboard that you find most useful.
The Updating Count Widget Display Order and Updating Charts and Graphs Display Order sections listed below will walk you through the steps of how to update the order of appearance for Count Widgets and Charts and Graphs on your Ops Insights Dashboard.
Updating Count Widget Display Order¶
You can move any Count Widget on your Ops Inishgts Dashboard by Grabbing (clicking and holding) the top portion of the Count Widget that appears to the left of the Refresh, Maximize, and Remove action icons and Dragging it to and then Dropping it in the desired location. A Crosshair icon will appear on the Count Widget when it’s eligible to be Grabbed.
When you Drag and Drop a Count Widget to a new location, the Count Widget that previously occupied that location will now appear in the old location of the Count Widget you selected to move.
It’s important to note that a maximum of Four (4) Count Widgets can appear on one row, so you will only have Four (4) targets or areas to Drop the Count Widget you are attempting to move.

Updating Charts and Graphs Display Order¶
You can move any Chart or Graph on your Ops Inishgts Dashboard by Grabbing (clicking and holding) the top portion of the Chart or Graph that appears to the left of the Refresh, Maximize, and Remove action icons and Dragging it to and then Dropping it in the desired location. Refreshing Visualization Results¶
When your Ops Insights Dashboard is loaded, the visualizations will load with real-time data. If your Ops Insights Dashboard has been open for some time and you need up-to-the-minute data, you may need to refresh or reload data for a specific Count Widget or Chart or Graph.
To do this, you will need to click the Sync or Refresh icon that appears in the top right-hand corner of the Count Widget or Chart or Graph.
If you need to refresh the results for more than one visualization on your Ops Insights Dashboard, we’d recommend reloading the page by hitting the F5 button on your keyboard or by clicking the reload button on your web browser.

Maximizing/Expanding Visualizations¶
When your Ops Insights Dashboard is loaded, the Count Widgets and Charts and Graphs will load with any Default Criteria Values that have been saved for the visualization. You can Maximize or Expand any visualization on Your Ops Insights Dashboard by clicking the Maximize or Expand icon that appears in the top right-hand corner of the Count Widget or Chart or Graph to:

Removing Visualizations from Your Dashboard¶
If you no longer want to see a visualization on your Ops Insights Dashboard, you can remove it by clicking the Close or Remove icon that appears in the top right-hand corner of the Count Widget or the Chart or Graph.

A Count Widget or the Chart or Graph can be Added Back to your Ops Insights Dashboard at any time by following the steps outlined in the Add Removed Visualizations Back to Your Dashboard section below.

Add Removed Visualizations Back to Your Dashboard¶
You can add a visualization back to your Ops Insights Dashboard after it has been Removed by following the steps outlined in the Steps to Add Removed Visualizations Back to Your Dashboard section below.
Navigate to the Manage My Dashboard section of Ops Insights.
Locate the Count Widget or Chart or Graph that was Removed.
Click the Assign to Dashboard button that appears on the Count Widget or Chart or Graph.
See the Assigned to Dashboard confirmation.
Reload your Ops Insights Dashboard and see the Count Widget or Chart or Graph appear.

Access Role Assignment and Applied Criteria¶
Count Widgets and Charts and Graphs appear on your dashboard because they are assigned to an Access Role that’s Assigned to Your User Account. When a Client Admin creates a new Access Role, they select Default Criteria Values for each report, which is referred to as Role-Level Default Criteria.
After a Client Admin assigns an Access Role to your User Account, you will have the ability to select your own Default Criteria Values for each report that you have access to, which is referred to as User-Level Default Criteria.
When your Ops Insights Dashboard is loaded, the Count Widgets and Charts and Graphs will load with any Default CriteriaValues (Role-Level Default Criteria and/or User-Level Default Criteria) that have been saved for the visualization.
The View Count widget Access Role Assignment and Applied Criteria and View Chart and Graph Access Role Assignment and Applied Criteria sections listed below will show you how to view the Access Role and Default Criteria Values that are assigned to each Count Widget and Chart or Graph on your Ops Insights Dashboard.
View Count Widget Access Role Assignment and Applied Criteria¶
You can view the Access Role and Default Criteria Values that are assigned to each Count Widget by clicking on the Info icon that appears on each Count Widget. The Info icon will appear to the right of the Count Widget title/label. The Count Widget Access Role Assignment and Applied Criteria Icon Location image listed below will show you where the Info icon will appear on each Count Widget on your Ops Insights Dashboard.
After clicking the Info Icon on a Count Widget, the Access Role Assignment and Applied Criteria Details Window will appear and will allow you to see which Access Role the Count Widget is assigned to along with which Criteria Values are currently being applied to the Count Widget.

View Chart and Graph Access Role Assignment and Applied Criteria¶
The Access Role that’s assigned to each Chart or Graph will be displayed at the Top of the Chart or Graph to the right of its title. The Chart and Graph Access Role Assignment Location image listed below will show you where the Access Role will appear on each Chart or Graph on your Ops Insights Dashboard.
The Criteria Values that are currently being applied to the Chart or Graph will be displayed at the Bottom of the Chart or Graph as tags. The Chart and Graph Applied Criteria Location image listed below will show you where the Criteria Values that are currently being applied to the Chart or Graph will appear on your Ops Insights Dashboard.
If there are multiple Criteria Values are applied to a Chart or Graph and the Criteria Values that are applied exceed the amount of space that’s available in the Chart and Graphs Applied Criteria Location, a tag that reads More… will appear towards the end of the Chart and Graphs Applied Criteria Location.
You can click the More… tag/button to open the Chart and Graph Access Role Assignment and Applied Criteria Details Window, which will allow you to see which Access Role is assigned to the Chart or Graph along with which Criteria Values are currently being applied to the Chart or Graph.

Types of Reports - Base Reports vs. Custom Reports¶
There are two main types or categories of reports that are available to users in Ops Insights, Base Reports and Custom Reports. The links listed in the Types of Reports Links section below will direct you to the sections that will explain the differences between the two and also show you how to identify if a Count Widget or a Chart or Graph is a Base Report or a Custom Report.
Base Reports¶
When your company subscribes to Ops Insights, you gain access to our library of Base Reports for each title production system that’s connected to Ops Insights. A Base Report is a report that is intended to be used by every Ops Insights client. Because each client can use their title production systems differently, a Base Report may or may not capture your entire business process and could potentially exclude expected results or include more results than expected.
You can further determine if a Base Report will align with your business processes by reviewing the Report Description section of the Report Description Tab of a Maximized/Expand Visualization. If you ever feel that a Base Report is missing expected results and/or including more results than expected, you can request to have the Ops Insights Report Writing Team create a custom version of any Base Report by clicking the Report not returning the expected values? button in the Incorrect Results? Tab of a Maximized/Expand Visualization and following the steps outlined in the Requesting a Revision to an Existing Report Tutorial.

Custom Reports¶
A Custom Report is a report that was created by the Ops Insights Report Writing Team specifically for your company and intended to be used by your company only.
You can further determine how a Custom Report is designed to work by reviewing the Report Description section of the Report Description Tab of a Maximized/Expand Visualization. If you ever feel that a Custom Report is missing expected results and/or including more results than expected, you can request to have the Ops Insights Report Writing Team modify any Custom Report by clicking the Report not returning the expected values? button in the Incorrect Results? Tab of a Maximized/Expand Visualization and following the steps outlined in the Requesting a Revision to an Existing Report Tutorial.

View Charts and Graphs Report Type Assignment¶
You can determine if a Chart or Graph is a Base Report or a Custom Report depending on the Report Type Display that appears above the Applied Criteria Section of a Chart or Graph.
If a Multiple Users icon and the text Base Report is displayed, the Chart or Graph is considered to be a Base Report and if a Single User icon and the text Client Specific is displayed, the Chart or Graph is considered to be a Custom Report.
Clicking on the Report Type Assignment display/link will open the Report Type Details Window, which will inform you if the Chart or Graph is a Base Report or a Custom Report.

Clicking the Report Type Icon on a Count Widget or the Report Type Assignment on a Chart or Graph will open the Report Type Details Window, which will inform you if the Count Widget or Chart or Graph is a Base Report or a Custom Report.

Drill Down (View Visualization Details)¶
Clicking the Drill Down link on a Count Widget or a Chart or Graph will display the details that make up the summary information that’s displayed in the visualization. Drill Down Reports will typically display file-level details, but can also display sub-totals of the values displayed in the Count Widget and Chart or Graph for a Branch, Client, Office, Employee, etc. depending on the Purpose of the Report. The Drill Down Report results will be displayed in the Drill Down Tab of a Maximized/Expanded Visualization.

You can Drill Down into the details of a Count Widget by clicking the bottom portion of the Count Widget where the text Drilldown and the Arrow icon appears in the Count Widget. Drill Down From Charts and Graphs¶
You can Drill Down into the details of a Chart or Graph by clicking the Drilldown text in the bottom right portion of the Chart or Graph. An Excel icon and Arrow icon will appear to the left and the right of the Drilldown text and the button will have a Gray highlight when you hover over it with your mouse.

When your Ops Insights Dashboard is loaded, the Count Widgets and Charts and Graphs will load with any Default Criteria Values that have been saved for the visualization.
You can Maximize or Expand any visualization on Your Ops Insights Dashboard by clicking the Maximize or Expand icon that appears in the top right-hand corner of the Count Widget or Chart or Graph to View a Larger Display of the Visualization, Get a Better Understanding of How the Report Works, Request Revisions / Changes to the Visualization, Update, Change or Manage the Default Criteria Values, and Drill Down / View the File-Level Details that are Included in the Visualization.

How are Visualizations Assigned to My Dashboard?¶
Count Widgets and Charts and Graphs appear on your dashboard because they are assigned to an Access Role that’s Assigned to Your User by the Client Admin for your account.
